When does my flight depart/arrive?

Unsure of your timings? It's best to be safe than sorry. Check your departure and arrival time with our handy Flight status tool.

Online check in

The best way to check in is online where you can pick your seat and print your boarding card. If you’re travelling with carry on baggage only, you can print off your own boarding pass and we’ll see you at the gate.

What time should I arrive at the airport?

Leave those last-minute airport dashes to the big screen! We recommend that you arrive at least three hours before your flight is due to leave.

Counter check in and bag drop

You’ll find our check in desks F01-F12 at Check in Island F, Terminal 2. Check in starts from four hours before departure and closes one hour before departure. Our bag drop facility is located at Desk 25.

Please note, check in desks for Virgin Atlantic flights departing on 29th October 2023 and thereafter will be located at Check in Island H, Terminal 1.

Connecting flights

Please note: from 29th October 2023, Virgin Atlantic flights will depart from and arrive into Terminal 1. As a result, all passengers will be required to collect their bags, pass through customs and re-check their baggage in with their onward carrier. 

Do I need to wear a mask?

Masks are recommended but not required both during your flight, and in the terminal at Shanghai. Health packs containing medical masks will be handed out at the gate at London Heathrow.
