Requirements to enter the Bahamas

You must check all requirements before heading to the airport.

Non-nationals or non-citizens of the Bahamas who have travelled to any of the following countries in 14 days before travel will not be permitted travel;

  • Botswana
  • Eswatini
  • Lesotho
  • Malawi
  • Mozambique 
  • Namibia
  • Zimbabwe
  • South Africa

Travel Health Visa Application

You'll need to submit a Travel Health Visa Application before you travel, and all travellers are required to opt-in to a health insurance that covers the duration of your stay in the Bahamas. Confirmation of the application must be presented upon arrival in the Bahamas. It is advised to allow at least 72 hours for processing.

Pre-departure test

All passengers aged 12 years and older must have a negative result from a Covid-19 PCR test conducted by a medical professional in the 5 days before arriving in the Bahamas. For vaccinated passengers and children aged 2 to 11, Rapid Antigen tests will be accepted.

Covid-19 testing on arrival

If you display symptoms when you land in the Bahamas or during your stay, you may be required to take a Covid-19 test, even if you presented a negative result at check-in/on arrival. In this case, you'll need to await results in your hotel room.

After 1st November, travellers staying in the Bahamas for more than four nights/five days, will be required to take a rapid antigen test, as well as completing daily health questionnaires. Find out more on the Ministry of Tourism's website.

Passport

Your passport should be valid for six months from the date of departure from the Bahamas.

Make sure you have a spare page in your passport for the entry stamp.

 

Visa

You can visit the Bahamas for up to 21 days without a visa. This can be extended up to a maximum of 8 months by applying to the Department of Immigration in Nassau

If you're travelling to the Bahamas via the USA, you may need to apply for an ESTA. Time spent in the Bahamas counts towards the 90-day maximum permitted stay in the USA with an ESTA.

Following the latest government, World Health Organisation, and industry regulatory guidance, you must wear a face mask or face covering at all times onboard the flight and throughout the airport.

You may only remove the face mask for the following reasons:

  • To avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others
  • To eat or drink where it is reasonably necessary to do so, or to take medication

There are some exemptions that apply to the wearing of face masks or face coverings:

  • If you can't put on, wear, or remove a face covering without severe distress, or due to any physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability (within the meaning of section 6 of the Equality Act 2010)
  • If you're travelling with, or providing assistance to, another person who relies on lip reading to communicate
  • Children 11 and under unless you are travelling to/from the US*

*Customers travelling to or from the USA aged 2 and over must wear a face mask at all times in the airport and onboard the flight. The same exemptions apply.
