Pakistan travel alerts

Pakistan alerts and entry requirements correct as of 10:00 GMT on Thursday 18 November 2021

From 19 November, passengers flying on Virgin Atlantic from London Heathrow to Islamabad or Lahore should check in at Zone G in Heathrow Terminal 3 instead of Zone A, which is on the ground floor of the Departures area. See this map of Heathrow T3 (page 2) for directions to Zone G.

There are currently no urgent travel alerts for Pakistan.

Requirements to enter Pakistan

You must check all requirements before heading to the airport.

Only fully vaccinated travellers will be permitted entry  to Pakistan*

The only exemptions are for customers below the age of 18. From 01 November 2021 Pakistani nationals between the age of 15 and 18 years must be partially vaccinated, and from 01 December 2021 must be fully vaccinated in order to be permitted travel

OR

If you are medically exempt from getting the Covid vaccination you will need to travel with a medical letter to confirm your exemption. This must be signed by a doctor and sent into Special Assistance prior to travel, please send to special.assistance@fly.virgin.com

*Please be advised if you have travelled out of Pakistan prior to 01 October 2021, you will be allowed to return to Pakistan regardless of vaccination status.

Pakistan currently maintains exit requirements for all customers, please see below fully vaccinated travellers for this information.  

Pre-departure tests

All customers aged 6 years and above must have taken a Negative PCR test within 72 hours of your departure time.

 

Entry documents

You are required to provide your contact details through the PassTrack mobile app or on the website. Please check the Government of Pakistan Current Policies before travelling.

 

COVID-19 testing on arrival

All customers aged 6 years and above will be required to complete a Covid-19 test (Rapid Antigen) upon arrival.

 

Quarantine

Passengers who test negative upon arrival will not be required to quarantine.

If you test positive upon arrival you will be required to complete 10 day quarantine either at a government facility or a self-paid facility.

 

Passport

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months at the time of your visa application.

This guidance is for UK passport holders only. Passengers from other countries should check with the necessary Government department for travel information.

 

Exit requirements

Visa

Pakistan's entry requirements differ depending on your nationality and the reason for your visit. If you're not a Pakistan national, you will usually need a visa to enter the country, which you should get before you travel.

National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)

You can enter Pakistan visa free and remain there for an unlimited period of stay if you hold a valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (SNICOP). Information for UK passport holders

If you’re travelling to Pakistan on a British passport, you will need to get a visa before you travel. Visa violations can be treated as a criminal offence and could result in a fine or detention.

Journalists’ visas often have additional travel restrictions, which you should observe.

UK Emergency Travel Documents

UK Emergency Travel Documents (ETDs) are valid for entry into Pakistan. Holders of an ETD entering or leaving Pakistan will need to have either a valid visa or a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) / Smart National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (SNICOP) issued by the government of Pakistan.

Following the latest government, World Health Organisation, and industry regulatory guidance, you must wear a face mask or face covering at all times onboard the flight and throughout the airport.

You may only remove the face mask for the following reasons:

  • To avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others
  • To eat or drink where it is reasonably necessary to do so, or to take medication

There are some exemptions that apply to the wearing of face masks or face coverings:

  • If you can't put on, wear, or remove a face covering without severe distress, or due to any physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability (within the meaning of section 6 of the Equality Act 2010)
  • If you're travelling with, or providing assistance to, another person who relies on lip reading to communicate
  • Children 11 and under unless you are travelling to/from the US*

*Customers travelling to or from the USA aged 2 and over must wear a face mask at all times in the airport and onboard the flight. The same exemptions apply.

The PASS TRACK app is mandatory for all arriving customers. Those who do not have the app will need to complete the web portal.  Ensure you print and retain a copy for the duration of your travel. Children under 12 years of age are exempted.
