Passport
Your UK passport should be valid for at least 30 days beyond the date you plan to leave South Africa and have at least two blank pages.
If your passport was issued by another country, check the requirements for travelling to South Africa with the relevant government department.
Visa
Most customers can visit South Africa for up to 90 days without a visa.
Check with the South African Department of Home Affairs for an official list of visa-exempt countries.
Documents for children
The following documents are required if your child is travelling unaccompanied into or out of South Africa:
- A copy of their birth certificate or equivalent document
- parental consent letter(s)
- A copy of the passport(s) or identity document(s) of the parent(s) or legal guardian(s)
- contact details of the parent(s) or legal guardian(s)
- or where applicable-
- copy of a death certificate
- copy of an adoption order
- copy of a court order granting full parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship in respect of the child.
If your child is South African, additional documents will be required, even if you’re travelling with them.
Documents required for South African children travelling together with both parents:
- A copy of the child’s birth certificate (or equivalent document) showing the details of both parents.
Documents required for South African children travelling with one parent/guardian or with anyone else:
- A copy of the child’s birth certificate (or equivalent document) showing the details of both parents.
- A letter of consent from the parent(s) not travelling with the child.
- Contact details of the parent(s) not travelling with the child.
- A copy of the passport(s) or identity document(s) of the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) not travelling with the child.
- or where applicable-
- copy of a death certificate
- copy of an adoption order
- copy of a court order granting full parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship in respect of the child.
